2. The Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood
The Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood is also called the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. The colourful domes at the top make it a beautiful edifice to behold in Saint Petersburg. The church was built between 1883 and 1907, on the site where Emperor Alexander II was wounded. The collection of mosaics in the church has made it one of the tourist attractions in Saint Petersburg. The mosaic collection in the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood is considered as one of the largest mosaic collection in Europe.
3. Grand Peterhof Palace
Grand Peterhof Palace is also known as Peter’s Court or the Russian Versailles. It was named after Peter the Great. The Grand Peterhof Palace houses several palaces and gardens. In this court, you will find the buff, the grand cascade and Samson fountain, the lower gardens, the upper garden and the grand palace. It also serves as a resort centre and a train terminal. Worthy of note is the Palace Square, a monumental open space with neo-classic buildings.
4. Saint Isaac Cathedral
Saint Isaac Cathedral is also known as Isaakievskiy Sobor. The cathedral was dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia. From Saint Isaac Cathedral you can behold the city of Saint Petersburg.
